When "Like a Virgin" co-writer Billy Steinberg finally got to meet Madonna

This story kinda reminds me of when I met Molly Ringwald at the Carlyle Cafe. Would I -- or Billy Steinberg -- really have wanted it to go differently?!!!

The original lyrics were written on 10th September 1983. The final music was composed later during ‘83 into ‘84. Sometime during February / March ‘84,
Steinberg and Kelly were at Warners pitching new music to A&R man Michael Ostin. They didn’t think the demo really suited anyone in particular but left it with Ostin.
The following day Ostin presented it to Madonna, who immediately fell for the track and apparently decided there and then that her second album needed to share the same title. She would later take this exact demo over to Nile Rodgers at his apartment for him to listen to.
Rodgers didn’t fall for the track in the same way……. days later however, he realised that the “hook” was still stuck in his head, so he apologised to Madonna and said that maybe they should record the song after all.
