Bananarama's 'Cruel Summer' Turns 40!

So many great memories from the summer of '83 listening to a tape we made of our import 12-inch single in my brother Bill's Toyota Corolla on the way to Paradise Valley Racquet Club where we -- along with my friend Greg -- were ball boys for the Phoenix Sunsets franchise of (World) Team Tennis! We were wild about the song, which didn't become a hit in the U.S. until the following year when it appeared on the "Karate Kid" soundtrack as well as the gals' sophomore album.
