Carly Simon Takes Requests
Of the few regrets I have in life, never seeing Carly Simon in concert is one of them. In fairness, she suffers from stage fright and doesn't tour, so catching her during a rare live performance was never going to be easy.
I was bummed that Covid twice canceled a tribute to her music at Carnegie Hall -- I had third-row tickets for both attempts -- but remain grateful that I did see her sing "Let the River Run" live at the hallowed venue at a benefit for the underage-French-kissing champion of Tibet. As a consolation, I see she's "taking requests" from fans online, where she writes a song on the spot based on a suggested word, which is about as adorable as it sounds.
So glad she finally got inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, even if the deaths of her two older sisters prevented her from attending the momentuous occasion. 🙏🙏🙏
