A manhunt is on in Campbell County after an inmate escaped while out on work release Friday morning. David Leroy Barney, 31, was last seen working in the 100 block of Oak Street in Silver Grove about 7:40 a.m. Campbell County authorities notified the Kentucky State Police about 40 minutes later. Trooper Charles Loudermilk said Barney was serving time in the Campbell County Detention Center for stealing property and not paying child support. Barney is about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has tattoos on his forearms, across his waist and on his legs.
