Tim Tebow confirms he's dating Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters

Tim Tebow has moved on to another Miss Universe.

The NFL quarterback-turned-Mets minor leaguer is dating the 2017 winner Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, a 23-year-old from South Africa who now lives in New York.

"She is a really special girl and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life,” the outfielder told ESPN. “I am usually very private with these things but I am very thankful." 

Nel-Peters, who was crowned Miss Universe in November, used her platform to speak about gender and pay equality as well as the importance of confidence.

“Miss Universe is a woman that has overcome many fears and by that she is able to help other women to overcome their fears,” she said. “She is a woman that nothing is ever too much to ask for and I think that is exactly who I am."

The model also said she wanted to teach self-defense workshops for women after she was carjacked following her Miss South Africa win. Nel-Peters escaped by punching one of her attackers in the throat.

It’s unclear how long the two have been together, but Nel-Peters has started showing up in photos with the former Jets and Broncos quarterback in the past week. Tebow previously dated Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, but the two split in 2015 after just a few months.

The Mets outfielder, who recently participated in the Double-A All-Star game, is expected to finish out the season with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. (Via NYDN)
