Teacher, coach arrested after engaging in sexual conduct with student in classroom: police
Oh, my -- if only COACH BEALL had been this frisky ...
A Texas high school physics teacher and football coach has been arrested after allegedly carrying on a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student -- including alleged encounters inside his classroom.
Chad Allen Rodriguez, 38, who taught physics and astronomy and coached football and track at John Jay High School in San Antonio, was taken into custody Saturday and charged with having an improper relationship with a student, according to local reports.
According to an arrest affidavit, the relationship allegedly began during the 2025-26 school year and escalated from flirting in class to kissing and intercourse, which allegedly occurred multiple times throughout the school year.
Investigators say the teen told police the pair also exchanged explicit photos and videos.
The allegations reportedly surfaced after another student spotted Rodriguez and the teen alone together in his classroom and alerted school officials. Surveillance footage allegedly showed the student entering the classroom and remaining there for several minutes.
The Northside Independent School District said Rodriguez -- who had worked there since 2016 -- was immediately placed on administrative leave and that the district is cooperating with law enforcement. He was being held in Bexar County Jail on a $50,000 bond, while San Antonio police said the investigation remains ongoing.
While the age of consent in the Lone Star state is 17, Texas law strictly prohibits sexual relationships between school employees and students, with such cases prosecuted as second-degree felonies.
