Former Georgia Middle School Teacher Arrested After Being Accused of Grooming a Minor

A former Georgia teacher has been arrested after authorities say he allegedly sent inappropriate messages to a minor student.
Miles McLendon, 24, was taken into custody May 13 and charged with grooming a minor for a sexual offense or trafficking for sexual servitude, according to local reports. The investigation reportedly began in February after a member of the Oconee County school system alerted authorities about “potential inappropriate messages” sent to a juvenile through social media.
McLendon had been working as a special education teacher at Dove Creek Middle School since December 2025, though he had previously worked in the district as a community coach and substitute teacher. He stopped working for the school system in March, though it’s unclear whether he resigned or was terminated.
In a statement, Oconee County Schools said McLendon is no longer employed by the district and declined further comment because the matter remains an active law enforcement investigation. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and it’s not yet known whether McLendon has entered a plea or retained a lawyer.
